“Can’t You Hear Me?” is really meant to be about breaking free of anything in the way of our true path and higher purpose. It is sort of directed at Mara, who is a figure that symbolizes the universal energy of distraction and temptation. The song originally came from a difficult personal experience where I felt trapped and like my real feelings were not heard. I also had my part to play, falling into the same bad habits repeatedly. So this is my plea to Mara to just please leave me alone, “Nothing you can throw at me keeps me from my destiny, “Can’t You Hear Me?" This is really the intention I had for this song, hope it inspires in some way. :)
